SALAY, MIS. OR., 2021, Nov 10 — The Salay Overseas Filipino Workers Association (SOFWA) conducted its first general assembly on November 9, 2021, at Salay Gymnasium. The association also conducted its oath-taking of SOFWA Officers which was officiated by Mayor Jun Capistrano.
Present during the assembly was Mayor Jun Capistrano, Rev. Fr. Asisclo Q. Vallente, CSC (Missionary Priest from Binuangan Mis.Or.), OWWA Social Welfare of Region 10, Mr. Ritche James Uy, OWWA RWO 10 personnel, Salay PESO Manager, Mr. Tim Chavez, and other Salay PESO staff.
Mayor Jun expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Ms. Jocelyn Cabisan, the SOFWA President together with SOFWA officers, for really initiating organizing this association, after a long time. This will really help our fellow Salayano OFWs because through this association lots of opportunities, livelihood, financial assistance, and other benefits from our national/provincial government will easily be delivered, with the help also of our local government. Mayor Jun also pledge to give his full support and assistance to the plans and programs of the association.
Concerns regarding the benefits of the OFWs and others concerning OWWA were raised during the assembly.
