SALAY, MIS. OR., 2022, Sept 6 — SEAL OF GOOD LOCAL GOVERNANCE (SGLG) 2022 NATIONAL VALIDATION IN SALAY WAS A SUCCESS!

SGLG is DILG’s most prestigious award given to LGUs that exhibited exemplary and innovative local governance practices. It aims to inculcate good local governance among LGUs and give recognition for those which consistently strive to upscale services extended to their constituents.

As one of the seven (7) shortlisted LGUs of Misamis Oriental in the National Level as recommended by the DILG’s Regional Assessment Team (RAT), for this year’s Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), the Municipal Government of Salay just undergone the national level of validation on September 6, 2022.

The Local Government Unit of Salay headed by Mayor Jun Capistrano together with the Sangguniang Bayan members, MLGOO Jacilo Orongan, and LGU employees, welcomed the team from the Bureau of Local Government Supervision (BLGS) for the 2022 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) National Validation. Present also during the welcoming was former Mayor of Salay and Binuangan, Hon. Romeo Gue.

The national validators namely: Team Leader Ms. Cheryl Navarro-LGOO VII together with Ms. Marie Louise Valbuena-LGOO IV. They were assisted by the DILG Provincial Representative, Ms. Liza Ladres-LGOO VI.

For this year, the national validators evaluated several aspects of the LGU in its capacity and performance in terms of;

  1. Financial Administration
  2. Disaster Preparedness
  3. Social Protection
  4. Health Compliance and Responsiveness
  5. Sustainable Education
  6. Business Friendliness and Competitiveness
  7. Peace and Order
  8. Environmental Management
  9. Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and the Arts, and
  10. Youth Development

These elements more accurately reflect the duties of local governments in providing services under the Code and any supplementary laws. The assessment process consists of table validation, onsite inspection, and conference with the local functionaries and heads of offices.

The national validators were impressed by the efforts and performance of the LGU Salay officials, department heads with the LGU employees, barangay councils, and stakeholders.

As an SGLG Awardee from the year 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019, the LGU Salay under the present leadership of Mayor Angelo “Jun” Capistrano and Vice Mayor Rey Amelito “Sonny” Tan is full of hope to snatch another Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) award for this year.
