SALAY, MIS. OR., 2022, Sept 9 — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 10 in the person SRS II-CEST Mrs. Meriam Mondia together with two (2) DOST staff conducted inventory/inspection of the DOST funded programs and projects in Salay; such as health supplies/equipment for the provided Ambulance. Present during the activity were Municipal Budget Officer/Salay DOST-CEST Coordinator Mrs. Emma Baluyos, MDRRM Officer Mr. Kenneth Palamine, Municipal Health Officer Dr. Jdidah Mae Sealza, General Services Officer Mrs. Ava Victoria Ronquillo, MHO Ambulance Drivers, and RHU-Salay Pharmacy staff.
After the inventory and tagging, the DOST representatives claimed that the Salay Ambulance is already “FULLY EQUIPPED” and ready to respond in any emergencies or disasters.
On the same day, they also visited the Flood Monitoring System (TANDEM) and Automated Rain Gauge Station (ARGS) installed near the big river of Barangay Ili-Ilihon, Salay, Misamis Oriental.
Afterwards, the DOST representatives visited next the Salay Community College (SaCC). The School President Dr. Grace Pimentel gave them a warm welcome. They discussed status update of the DOST project: “StarBooks”, follow-up school’s proposal regarding the request for additional computer sets, and other important matters.
Lastly, they visited the office of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management to personally observe how the TANDEM-ARGS System works and how does it analyzes the data. MDRRM Officer, Mr. Palamine discussed other related information to expalin further the system monitoring processes involved with the devices.
According to SRS II-CEST Mrs. Mondia, Salay is the only one in the entire region to have a fully operational Flood Monitoring System (TANDEM) – Automated Rain Gauge Station (ARGS) monitoring system. Most especially, they congratulated Salay for its consistent positive track records especially in handling the DOST programs and projects in the municipality.
The Local Government Unit of Salay headed by Mayor Angelo “Jun” Capistrano, are much thankful to the DOST-10 in the person of Regional Director Alfonso P. Alamban, for the unceasing support/assistance to the plans and programs of the LGU-Salay; especially in its Education, Health, and Disaster Preparedness programs.
