SALAY, MIS. OR—LGU Salay welcomes back partners from Community Work for Asia (CWA) as they conduct a three-day Community-based Entrepreneurship Workshop among Salay Community College (SaCC) students, Feb. 17-19, 2020.

CWA representatives Prof. Natsu Matsui from Japan and Mr. Chhim Chhouden from Cambodia impart knowledge on community-based entrepreneurship that will enable young people to become social entrepreneurs, which creates jobs in return and address social and environmental concerns.

Natsui says big companies nowadays invest in enterprises that lean more towards the realization of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

By sharing successful business models in CWA assisted communities around Asia, BS Entrepreneurship students of SaCC will receive insights on how to create social enterprises in areas of sustainable agriculture, waste management, and food processing. Another team focuses on Website development for Tourism promotion.

Through CWA, an exciting immersion opportunity in Japan awaits for chosen SaCC students.

Currently, CWA operates in Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Japan and the Philippines through Salay Handmade (SHAPII).

In 2017, CWA members from different parts of Asia first visited Salay. And Mayor Jun is delighted to welcome them back for another collaboration.
