SALAY, MIS. OR., 2021, Apr 16 — The Local Government Unit of Salay conducted a meeting with the owners of the floating cottages “Balsa” and newly established beach resorts of Barangay Ampenican and Barangay Dinagsaan spearheaded by Mayor Jun Capistrano, addressing the concerns regarding the operation of the “balsa” and beach resorts of the said barangays. The meeting was participated by the nine (9) owners, MAO Representative – Mr. Lordito Aclan, MENRO Designate – Mr. Greg Zulita, Tourism Officer Designate – Ms. Cleo Bernadeth Mangay, Brgy. Captain of Dinagsaan – Hon. Joseph Allera, and Barangay Kagawad of Ampenican.
The decision to TEMPORARILY SUSPEND the operations of the floating cottages based on the advisory of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) – 10 headed by Regional Director Teodoro Bacolod, Jr. were discussed. The temporary suspension of the “balsa” operations in Salay including the temporary closure of the cottages will be effective starting on April 19, 2021, Monday, until further notice.
Important matters regarding the BFAR guidelines/requirements which ables to resume the operations of “balsa”, plans of the LGU regarding the management of the said new local tourism attractions, collection of Tourism Statistics and DOT-Accreditation, securing business permits, solid waste management of the establishments, and minimum health protocols were also discussed during the meeting. Concerns and suggestions were raised afterward.
