SK Provincial Federation President of MisOr and proud Salayano, Kerwin Jess Nangcas Soldevilla graced the 123rd Rizal Day celebration in Salay, as Guest of Honor, sharing the legacies of Gat Jose Rizal and how he remains an inspiration to the youth today to overcome pressing challenges, just as Rizal dedicated his life in service of the country and fought for social injustices for a better life for Filipinos.

In his speech, Soldevilla cited societal issues that concern the young people today such as the rise of teenage pregnancy and the clamor for quality basic education in the Philippines, citing the recent survey where the Philippines ranked among lowest in reading, math, and science in 2018 study.

Soldevilla is the first Salayano youth to have been invited as Guest of Honor in the celebration of Rizal Day in Salay.

He called on everyone to take action, especially his fellow SKs, to be united and aspire for the realization of the Philippine Youth Development Agenda, as it “pays tribute to Rizal’s work, sacrifice and legacy.”

“Atong buhaton ang tanan nga kaayohan para aduna kita’y legasiya ug makaingon sila nga wala kita nagpasagad sa atong panahon,” Soldevilla’s challenge to his fellow youth to make a difference in their generation today, as Rizal once did during his time.
