SALAY, MIS. OR., July 9, 2018 – after months of hard work and sleepless nights, LGU Salay tasted its sweet victory as the Commission on Higher Education (Region10) proclaimed the opening and full operation of Salay Community College (SaCC) in a simple ceremony.

CHED-10 Education Sepcialist Dr. Mirriam B. Fuentes did the honour of proclaiming the program offerings of the college which are: Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education, Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship and Bachelor of Early Childhood Education. At present, 186 students are enrolled in SaCC for Academic Year 2018-2019.

Municipal Mayor, Hon. Angelo G. Capistrano, Jr., the Sangguniang Bayan Members and College President Dr. Otelia Galamiton couldn’t contain their joy in the recent achievement, but more so, former mayor Vevencia G. Capistrano was the happiest to see her dream turned into reality.

Mayor Vencia was instrumental to the opening of the satellite school of Bukidnon State University (BukSU) in Salay in hopes of giving the young people the opportunity to get tertiary education without going very far especially to the underprivileged, but after learning the possible closure of BukSU, putting up a community college could be the only option.

After years of being away from the public service, a mother’s request was granted through current mayor and son Mayor Angelo G. Capistrano, Jr.

“I never really expected that we be able to open the school this year, but because of the hard work of everyone, we made it even in such a brief period of time. I’d like to commend Dr. Galamiton and her staff for their diligence. This is truly a milestone for our municipality.” said Mayor Jun.

Other guests present in the event were Anakciano Inc. President, Christian Unabia, CHED Regional Office personnel Dr. Myrna I. Galarita and Dr. Rosemae L. Lumasag, Association of Barangay Councils and DepEd Salay District.
